Not only are they fake, but they're ugly.
The SD slot is huge, it'd make the iPhone "4G" comparable to the Dell Mini 5 or whatever it's called.
The aluminum bezel works for the iPad, and the similar design on the MacBooks. But on the iPhone? Not only would it be uncomfortable to hold for long amounts of time, but the GSM frequencies AT&T uses has a hard time going through simple walls, half the time. How would anyone expect five bars at any given time?
With Verizon, yes, the CDMA does much better at relaying frequencies through objects, but there again, what about current AT&T customers? Do we keep AT&T, get switched over, or does Apple manage the two?

And people kept telling me that OSX and iOS weren't going to merge in any meaningful manner for years ahead, if ever. Yeah right. I'd bet the one after this has them nearly fully merged and I mean towards iOS for the most part. OSX will be dumbed down to the lowest common brain cell and you won't be able to get free/open software anymore. It'll have to come through the App Store or not at all. Wait and see. That is the point I'll be moving on.

ALL phones are subject to detuning. The amount of detuning is up to the phone but this is natural. When someone told me, your signal drops when hold the iphone in a wierd way....no s***.

There are some really good PC manufacturers and for some windows is a good fit. OSX has some great advantages over windows, but it also has some disadvantages. You pick the computer (and OS) that best fits your needs. I like the idea of building my own computer and I can pick exactly what components I want into the computer - that's another option. You can then run windows or OSX (or even Linux) depending on which you prefer.
The childish fanboyism the posted here does nothing to add to the dialog.

Apple must have tweaked it VERY much. Will make it available to more people based on the new hardware and expanded video support.
Even the NVIDIA GeForce FX 5200 Ultra and Intel Mac Mini.
And it still won't run on my G4 mini :p Well, at least more people will be able to make use of :) And since you didn't ask, yes I use my mini as just a quick check system, which works fine with Lightroom. I suppose since I own Aperture, and this is a free update, I'll try it on my Mac Pro :)

I think grotesque should be a word reserved for murderers and child pornographers, not some dude who got a very cheap iPad due to some employee error. We're pretty much all adults here- there's no need to lecture people on morals and what their personal character may or may not include.
I think stealing, gloating, and putting someone's job at risk is grotesque. The OP walked out of BB knowing the cashier had made a mistake and decided to keep quiet. Anyone who has a concious would have gone back.

At that point, why not use a jailbroken iPhone?
Android kind of loses it charm.
Because no root/jailbreak is needed in order to do tethering, even if carriers disable those downloads from the Market. Because you can still download and install apps from anywhere on the internet.
But anyways, I don't think anyone would choose an OS just for one reason alone. Some might, of course.

That means anybody (read: carriers) can go and take a high class mobile OS for free and do with it what it wants; for better (lots of choices in software and hardware, big ecosystem) and for worse (slow updates, android modifications that suck, mobile phones that suck).
The fact that people could take android and make it even more restrictive than iOS is why it is open.
So yeah. Today android users can sideload any app without rooting/jailbreaking. Tomorrow, all carriers might start shipping phones with that feature disabled.
Thankfully, that has not happened for 99.99% of phones. But it might, because you know, as Android is open, people can modify it for both innovative improvements and new features and for locking it down.

No the add is right. To many people drool over apple so they go with ATT. If you picked AT&T for the iPhone and knew the service was spotty in your area you loose all right to complain about it.
i get what your sayin, but nah, they can still complain all they want... i dont think it says in the contract be expected to have 30% dropped calls.
people complain not only to relieve themselves, but to eventually get whats right. (complaining on macrumors isnt exactly the best way of going about it, ill give you that)

not me. the video was sooo hilarious. CES = the most prominent electronics show in the world with the MOST HIGH TECH tech you can find. and they allow for a 14.99 POS hack to ruin almost every booth.
HILARIOUS. i actually laughed out loud almost the whole video. childish yes. hilarious yes.
eye opening? yes. next year you can imagine there will be a few more companies that disable IR ports in public displays.
should gizmodo be allowed at macworld? YES. you think apple is stupid enough to allow something like that to happen? no.
as for gizmodo coming clean. i think that's fine. it was so funny. plus i'm sure not everyone endorsed the prank. it was probably a few people and then they made a blog post.

Considering that we haven't had any substantial update since Leopard (as Snow Leopard was more an under the hood thing), which launched 4 years ago, the same year the original iPhone launched; the list of features that are being shown for Lion are downright underwhelming.

This is not a part of the OS itself and I can use it right now. This is also hardly an innovation.

This is just a slightly different take on the stacks concept, borrowing from the way it is handled in the iPad.

Don't get me wrong, I am a fan of Apple as much as the next guy but this feature set is hardly impressive. I remember back when Apple released 10.4, I was actually excited about the new features and couldn't wait to update my computer. But now? I feel very much indifferent about Lion, don't see anything innovative or exciting at all, specially when one considers that the last update to include additional features as opposed to under the hood improvements (10.5) was released four years ago.

Happy Birthday OS X! I made the switch back in '03 when I got my 1.8 ghz PPC G5, running 10.2, I believe. 10.3 came out not too long after I rec'd my computer, and Apple sent me a free copy since I'd purchased my computer so close to the 10.3 release. Been a HUGE fan ever since. :)

I am personally hoping for a diesel Volt one day as well. Diesel engines are far better suited then gas engines when it comes to a series hybrid like the Volt.

And then maybe if there's enough time, I'll force them to watch Dark Planet or that episode of Battlestar Galactica 1980 where the kids go up in a tree and turn invisible and start throwing apples at the people down below and they have those ridiculous viper bikes.

Do they have to remake a new "Universal Binary?" Because aren't the current UB's for Intel and PPC? Please tell me they wont. I don't wnat to have to wait again for new UB's
In the windows world, they don't have separate or universal binaries for amd/intel. You wouldn't for OSX either.
